Lack of planned relocation by MCC: Street food vendors pushed onto roads

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) recently removed around 70 food stalls and small shops near Vijayanagar Water Tank. These stalls were operating under high-tension power lines, which posed a safety risk to vendors and customers.

However, after the removal, many vendors have shifted their stalls to the roadside outside the old food street area. This has created several problems for the public.

The roadside stalls are causing traffic jams, especially during busy evening hours. Vehicles find it difficult to move freely, leading to congestion and confusion on the roads. Pedestrians are also facing difficulties due to the lack of space to walk safely.

Another major concern is hygiene. Food is being prepared and sold on the roadside, and waste is often left unattended. This has resulted in an unhygienic environment and raised concerns among local residents.

People in the area are requesting the MCC to provide a proper place for the vendors to run their businesses. Residents believe that while removing the stalls from beneath the power lines was necessary for safety, a suitable alternative location should also be provided.

Citizens hope that the authorities will take quick action to solve the issue, reduce traffic problems and maintain cleanliness in the area.
