Mysuru: The gold chain of a woman who was riding a two-wheeler was snatched by a motorcycle-borne person who approached her to ask an address.
Police said that Chandrakala, a resident of Brindavan Extension, was going on her two-wheeler near ESI Hospital at Brindavan Extension at about 7.30 pm yesterday, when she heard someone calling her from behind. She was going towards Sri Lakshmivenkataramanaswamy Temple on KRS Road near Vontikoppal.
Chandrakala slowed down as she was called out and the biker asked her a particular address. The moment she stopped, the bike-borne criminal suddenly attacked her and tried to snatch her gold chain weighing 48 grams.
An alert Chandrakala held on to her chain and tightened her grip. She also tried to catch hold of the attacker. However, the chain snatcher succeeded in making away with a part of the chain that weighed about 11 grams. As Chandrakala held on to the youth’s T Shirt, it tore in the melee.
Chandrakala has given the description of her attacker, besides the type of vehicle he was riding at the time of the incident to the Police. V.V. Puram Police have registered a case. Inspector Sooraj told Star of Mysore that the registration number of the bike has been identified and efforts were on to trace the chain snatcher.
