Three arrested for creating fake documents and selling property

Rs. 23.5 lakh recovered

Mysuru: Vijayanagar Police have arrested three real estate brokers for cheating a woman by creating fake documents of a property (No. 788) located in Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 3rd phase and also creating a fake owner by the name Suresh Chandra Babu and selling the property to a woman for Rs.72 lakh, thus cheating her. The Police have recovered Rs. 23.5 lakh of the Rs.72 lakh from the accused. The Police have launched a hunt to nab one more person involved in the case.

On Nov. 23, the Police arrested 35-year-old Somesh of Aravindanagar and based on the information provided by him, the Cops on Nov. 29, arrested 47-year-old Maqbal of Sathagalli and on Dec. 3 arrested 48-year-old Jayaram of Sathagalli for acting as Suresh Chandra Babu (owner of the property) and forging his signature.

During interrogation, the three accused are said to have revealed that they used to create fake documents of sites allotted in MUDA limits whose owners stay in other cities, act like the owners of the properties, sell the same in less prices and register the properties in Sub-Registrar office through fake owners after receiving money from the buyers.

Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner has asked property buyers to meet the property owner in person before buying and get the documents verified at the concerned offices and then purchase the properties.
