Mysuru: The land purchased by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Hinkal is not connected to the disputed property mentioned in BJP leader N.R. Ramesh’s complaint to Lokayukta, clarified former MUDA Chairman C. Basavegowda yesterday.
Addressing the media at Pathrakartara Bhavan, Basavegowda stated that Siddaramaiah bought the land from one Sakamma of Hinkal in 1997 and it was sold only after the building on the site was demolished.
He explained that during his tenure as MUDA Chairman, a survey was conducted following a Court case claiming that MUDA had allotted land at the same location.
The survey revealed that the disputed land did not belong to MUDA but was adjacent to a MUDA-developed layout. The complainant was informed that an alternative site would be provided if a plot had been mistakenly allotted on the adjacent land.
“We are unsure why N.R. Ramesh filed a complaint with the Lokayukta, as the Court has already confirmed that the land does not belong to MUDA,” Basavegowda added.
