Land crunch stalls startup growth in Mysuru: MP

‘Land allocation delays, red tape in KIADB hindering expansion of industrial ecosystem’

Mysuru: Many startups planning to establish operations in Mysuru are struggling due to a severe shortage of land, with the State Government yet to allocate required industrial sites, said Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP Office in city this morning, he highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre over the past 12 years.

At the same time, he flagged local bottlenecks, particularly the lack of land allocation for startups by Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

Stating that India has emerged as a global hub of innovation, attracting both startups and major industries, he said Mysuru continues to face hurdles due to the non-availability of land.

“If land is provided, startups will flourish here and larger industries will follow. CM D.K. Shivakumar should respond positively in this regard,” he urged.

He noted that Karnataka has been claiming to promote technology cluster development in Tier-2 cities such as Mysuru, Hubballi, Mangaluru and Belagavi, where commercial space is relatively more affordable. However, he said startups on the ground were not receiving land allocations.

“The policy states that startups in Karnataka can acquire land or commercial space through State industrial development agencies or private industrial parks. KIADB is the primary agency responsible for allocation. But unfortunately, KIADB is also the reason many startups are leaving Mysuru due to the non-availability of land,” the MP alleged.

Centre has people’s trust

Reflecting on the Modi government’s 12-year tenure, Yaduveer said several longstanding issues had been addressed, including poverty reduction. “Over 25 crore people have come out of poverty, with the poverty rate dropping from 29 percent to 11 percent, according to international reports.”

“Modi has become India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, completing 12 consecutive years in office. This milestone reflects not just longevity, but the enduring trust of the people in stable, decisive and transformative leadership,” he said.

Over the past 12 years, India has witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, digital governance, financial inclusion, women-led development, innovation and global outreach. He said India has also led the world in digital payments and emerged as a strong voice on the global stage.

On infrastructure and investment, he pointed to foreign direct investment in the semiconductor sector worth over Rs. 1 lakh crore and UNESCO’s recognition of 44 heritage sites during the current regime. He also lauded the Swachh Bharat Mission, which he said has received appreciation from World Bank and IMF.
