Mysuru: Following directions from City Court, the Lakshmipuram Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against former Chief Minister (CM) Siddharamaiah and three others in connection with a 20-year-old land de-notification case.
The three others accused in the case are former Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman C. Basavegowda, another former MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar and incumbent MUDA Commissioner P.S. Kantharaju.
RTI activist N. Gangaraju had filed a private complaint (PCR No.20/2018) with a city court alleging that Siddharamaiah as the Deputy CM in 1997, de-notified 30 guntas of land in Hinkal and the property in question belonged to one Papanna, a former President of Hinkal Gram Panchayat.
Gangaraju, in his complaint, claimed that Siddharamaiah by virtue of his position as the Dy.CM in 1997, had bought 10 guntas out of 30 guntas of land in an illegal manner in Vijayanagar second stage and built a house on the same land before selling it. Strangely, barring the 30 guntas of land in question, coming under Hinkal Gram Panchayat then, the other lands had been acquired by MUDA for formation of a layout.
The said land was de-notified only at the behest of Siddharamaiah, who later built a house in 1998 in a plot measuring 120’x75’ft by also encroaching upon a portion of the adjoining land, using his influence. Siddharamaiah later sold the property, the complaint said.
Following directions from the court of Principal Senior Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate, the Lakshmipuram Police have filed an FIR (49/2018) against the accused under various sections of IPC-120(B) (criminal conspiracy), 197 (issuing and signing false certificate), 166 (disobeying law), 167 (framing incorrect document), 169 (unlawful buying of property), 200 (false declaration with intent), 417 (punishment for cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery), it is learnt.
