Late running of Basava Express due to low priority

Sir,

Last weekend I travelled in Basava Express (Train No. 17307/ 17308) to visit Mantralayam and back to Mysuru. It leaves Mysuru at 13.25 hrs and arrives at Mantralayam Road Station at midnight and proceeds further to Bagalkot. Likewise, it departs from Mantralayam Road Station at 00.15 hrs with scheduled arrival in Mysuru at 11.45.

Though this train is termed express and runs fast, it has very low priority as seen when it is halted for 30 to 45 minutes at several junctions to allow other super fast expresses to overtake and run in the same direction and line as this train is required to run. Because of this, it always runs late in both the directions.

It is also quite ridiculous to note that the travel time including the prolonged halt from  Pandavapura to Mysuru is more than 45 minutes and added to it is stationing the train at outskirts of Mysuru.

I request the Railway authorities as well as our MP Pratap Simha to address this issue and bring more convenience for travellers of not only this train but also similar trains that run from Mysuru to various other cities.
