Law student killed as bike hits road divider

Mysuru: A law student was killed while another sustained serious injuries, when the rider lost control of the bike and hit the road divider on Vishwamanava Double Road here yesterday morning.

While the deceased student has been identified as B. Hemanth (21), son of Basavaraju, a resident of Bogadi in city, the injured has been identified as 19-year-old Jagan, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.

The duo, who had gone to a party on Saturday night, were returning home early morning on Sunday. When they were proceeding on Vishwamanava Double Road, the rider lost control of the bike and hit a road divider resulting in Hemanth being killed on the spot and Jagan suffering a fracture on his leg.

Police said that rash driving was the cause for the accident besides stating that both the rider and the pillion were not wearing helmets. K.R. Inspector D. Manjunath, who has registered a case in this regard, is investigating.
