Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that without learning English it is very difficult to move forward in higher education, research studies, profession or career, Maharaja’s College Resource Person M. Prasanna said that it is imperative to acquire English knowledge in this highly competitive world.
He was speaking at ‘Spoortiya Nade’ (A walk of Inspiration), a Spoken English & Personality Development programme for BCM Hostel students organised by Backward Classes Welfare Department in association with Zilla Panchayat (ZP) at BCM Post-Matric Boys Hostel on Adichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar here this morning.
Observing that rural students are hesitant of learning English as they perceive that it is a hard language to learn, Prasanna cited his own example on how he overcame all inhibitions and became a master trainer in English after studying in Kannada medium.
Highlighting the importance of mastering English, especially when English is the dominant language of the world, he maintained that English is an ordinary language with an extra-ordinary richness.
Pointing out that mastering English will help one in becoming master trainers, who are in great demand now a days as English is widely considered a global language for communication, he cited many examples how talented rural students lost out on lucrative and highly regarded jobs for lack of English knowledge.
Calling upon students to learn English and acquire Personality Development skills for the sake of their own future and career growth, he said that they should not let go any opportunity for learning the language and updating their skills.
Earlier, ZP Deputy Secretary Prem Kumar inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
District Backward Classes Welfare Officer Bindiya, Taluk BCM Officer Chandrakala, Resource Person Annegowda and others were present.
