Lecture on ‘Status of Ancient and Present Universities in India’ 

Mysuru: Dr. N.N. Prahallada, former Professor of Education, Regional Institute of Education (RIE – NCERT), Mysuru, delivered a lecture on  ‘Status of Ancient Universities and Present Universities in India’ to a group of 150 students attending UGC-NET classes at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) campus in city recently.  

The status of Ancient Universities in India since Vedic period, Bramhnic period, Buddhist period, Islamic period, British period and post-British period was explained with the type of education provided by Ancient University Professors and senior mentors with examples. 

Explaining about the importance of Oriental Learning (OL), Conventional Learning (CaL) and Non-un Conventional Learning (NUCL), he also briefed on the existing status of Universities in India like the Central Universities, State, Private and Autonomous Universities, Deemed to be University and Universities in Karnataka. 

Programme Coordinator Jainahali Satyanarayana Gowda was present on the occasion.
