Nanjangud: A 46-year- old college lecturer ended life by setting himself ablaze near Hosahalli gate in the outskirts of Nanjangud town on Friday.

Madappa, who was working as a lecturer at Chamarajanagar Government PU College and a resident of V.A. Extension in Nanjangud town, is the deceased.

Madappa’s wife Poornima too is a lecturer at JSS College in the town and the couple have a 16-year-old daughter.

Madappa, who was said to be under depression for the past couple of months, reportedly ended his life by setting himself ablaze after pouring petrol on him.

Based on a complaint lodged by his wife, the Nanjangud Rural Police have registered a case.
