Mysuru/Mysore: Following COVID-19 scare, the Central Government has fixed Rs. 8 for two ply masks, Rs. 10 for three ply masks and Rs. 100 for a 200ml bottle of sanitiser. Despite the Centre fixing the rates, complaints of masks and sanitisers being sold at exorbitant prices are being received.

Hence, legal action would be initiated against those found selling masks and sanitisers at higher prices and instead of levying penalty as done earlier, cases would be registered under Essential Commodities Act and action would be initiated against them, according to Mysuru Circle Legal Metrology Department Assistant Controller K.M. Mahadevaswamy.

Medical store fined Rs.5,000

A medical store at N.R. Mohalla here, which was found selling masks and sanitisers at exorbitant rate, has been fined Rs. 5,000.

The medial store was found selling Rs. 10 mask at Rs. 25 and was charging Rs. 210 per bottle of sanitiser instead of Rs. 50.

Legal Metrology Department Assistant Controller K.M. Mahadevaswamy and staff Nityanand and Rajendra, raided the medical store yesterday and imposed the fine on the owner.
