Mysuru:  Fear and panic has gripped the villagers of Naguvanahalli in Srirangapatna taluk after a villager saw a leopard jumping from a tree and chasing a pig. Pug marks of the leopard have been found at the spot to confirm its presence in the village.

Nagunalli is located after Hale Kesare in the outskirts of Mysuru.

Annaiah, a villager, speaking to Star of Mysore this morning said that he had seen a leopard jumping from a tree and entering his field about 12 days ago. He further said that yesterday, the leopard had chased a pig from the village and killed it in his field. “It has also killed my pet cat and a few dogs too,” Annaiah said.

Following the leopard scare and complaint from the villagers, the Forest Department staff have placed a cage in the farm of Annaiah and have a tied a dog inside the cage as bait to lure the leopard into the cage.
