Mysuru: A leopard which had created panic among the villagers of Yelwal and Maidanahalli was trapped in a cage on Apr.1 night at Maidanahalli.
The leopard has been creating panic since about 15 days and had also devoured a calf and a goat in Yelwal and Maidanahalli, following which the villagers had lodged a complaint with the Forest Department.
Following the complaint, the Forest Department had placed a cage in the field of one Boregowda in Maidanahalli about 10 days ago and had tied a dog as bait inside the cage.
Yesterday night, the leopard, which came to prey on the dog, got trapped inside the cage.
RFO M.K. Devaraju, DRFO Naveen, staff Ugraiah and Shivakumar, who rushed to the spot, shifted the leopard in the Department’s vehicle and provided it with first aid and food and later released the leopard at Nagarahole Forest.
