Mysore/Mysuru: A three-year-old leopardess has been trapped in a cage placed by the Forest Department in an agricultural field at Mosambayanahalli village, Varuna hobli in the taluk yesterday morning.
Following complaints about a leopard being spotted at Mosambayanahalli village and surrounding places by the villagers, the Forest Department staff had placed a cage in the agricultural field to trap the leopard.
Yesterday morning, the leopardess, which had come in search of food and water, walked into the cage and was trapped.
The Forest staff, who rushed to the spot, shifted the cage along with the leopardess, following which the Department veterinarian conducted a health check-up, implanted a microchip, cropped a portion of an ear as a mark and later released the leopardess into the forest.
