Leopards in playful mood stop traffic on Bannari Ghat

Chamarajanagar:  Two playful leopards which came on the middle of the road at Bannari Ghat in Sathyamangala Forest area, brought the traffic to a halt for some time till the Forest Department personnel arrived and chased them back to the forest on Wednesday evening.

Bannari Ghat commences from Dimbam in Tamil Nadu, which is after Hasanur near Sathyamangala from Chamarajanagar. When the travellers took the 27th hairpin bend on Bannari Ghat yesterday evening, they were shocked to see two leopards in playful mood in the middle of the road and stopped their vehicles besides capturing the playful leopards on their mobile phones.

The Sathyamangala Forest Department personnel, who rushed to the spot on being informed, managed to chase the leopards back to the forest and made way for the vehicles to move forward. It may be recalled that earlier, a tiger had killed two persons on the 16th hairpin bend and now two leopards playing in the middle of the road has created a sense of fear among the travellers.
