Mysuru: Lashing out at BJP leaders for making corruption charges against the Congress, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has asked the BJP leaders to see their own back on corruption and graft charges.
Speaking to press persons on his arrival at Lalith Mahal helipad to take part in a private function here yesterday, Siddharamaiah maintained that the BJP has no moral right to speak of corruption.
“The BJP leaders think that the people have forgotten that they had gone to jail on corruption charges. Everyone knows what they did when they were in power. There are many cases pending against them before the Supreme Court and Lokayukta,” he said.
Noting that BJP leaders had made many such allegations and they were under the illusion of winning the by-polls, the CM said that the people of Nanjangud and Gundlupet gave them a good reply by voting for the Congress.
Rejecting Union Minister of State for Commerce Nirmala Sitharaman’s allegation that Law and Order had collapsed in the State, the CM said that the Union Minister should not brand as lawless the State from which she had been elected to the Rajya Sabha.
Refuting MP Shobha Karandlaje’s allegation that the drought relief funds released by the Centre had been misused, the CM said that she should not speak if she does not have correct information. Though the State Govt. had sought Rs. 4,702 crore for the failure of South West monsoon, the Centre released only Rs. 1,670 crore, he claimed and urged the BJP leaders to bring pressure on the Centre for the early release of drought relief funds, instead of making false allegations about the State Government’s failure to handle drought. Stating that he was ready to release a white paper as sought by BJP leaders, he urged the BJP leaders to ask the Centre to release drought relief funds sought for failure of the last North-East monsoon in the State.
Dubbing the BJP as anti-reservation and anti-social justice, he asserted that the Dalits, Backward Classes and Minorities will not go with them.
