Let Kukkarahalli Lake remain unspoilt

Sir,

I am a very senior citizen walking around the pristine Kukkarahalli Lake every day.

Every time I see another concerned senior citizen writing about the maintenance of Kukkarahalli Lake, I am constrained to point out that Kukkarahalli Kere in its present state is unique and unspoilt, a rare piece of nature in the heart of a bustling city.

As I have pointed out earlier, we live in an anthropocentric world. I often see people playing music loudly on their phones while walking around the Lake with no consideration for the birds, other wildlife and walkers.

I hear senior citizens asking for bright lights again, not thinking that the birds might like to be undisturbed in their natural habitat from dusk to dawn.

And asking for the paths to be improved, as it is difficult for seniors to navigate — these unconcreted paths are a rarity these days and are much gentler on the knees than the ubiquitous concrete pavers seen in parks these days.

In my opinion, the Lake does not need any embellishment. For us, daily walkers, the changing seasons itself is such a pleasure, with the changing greenery and nesting birds. I would not wish for any of it to be changed.
