Mysuru: Dr. N.S. Harinarayana, Associate Professor, Department of Studies in Library and Information Science, University of Mysore (UoM), was conferred “Library Service Award” in recognition of his contribution to Library and Information Profession at a ceremony held on Aug. 12 at Hanagal in Haveri District.
This award is given by Karnataka Government through Department of Public Libraries.
It may be mentioned that every year 12th August is celebrated as “Librarians Day” to mark the birthday of late Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Movement in India and Padma shree awardee.
Assembly Speaker K.B. Koliwad inaugurated the programme which was attended by MLAs, officers from Government Departments, library professionals and students.
Dr. Harinarayana is also the Executive Committee Member of MILAN (Mysore University Information and Library Science Alumni Network).
