LIC agents stage protest urging for fulfilment of demands

Mysuru:  Demanding a rollback of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) levied on policy premiums, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) agents on Wednesday staged a protest in front of the LIC office at Bannimantap.

Expressing their support to the nationwide stir against GST being levied on policy premiums, the agents demanded that a welfare fund be created for LIC agents, granting of pension and reimbursement of medical expenses, issue of ID cards to agents, amendment to the Gratuity Act, 1972 and a hike in Gratuity, among others.

They also wanted that the interview process which decided membership to clubs ought to be done away with and the losses incurred by policy holders should be covered by the Government.

President of the Southern Region LIC agents Association L. Manjunath, office-bearers Yogesh, C. Pradeep, Somaiah, Krishnamurthy, S. Shivanagappa, B. Pashupathi, S.M. Basavalingappa and others took part.
