This month city’s cultural organisation Bhanuvara Sanje Geleyara Balaga, popularly known as BHASANGE Balaga, is organising its 75th programme. Started 10 years back, it is continuously organising variety of programmes and encouraging young talents in the field of performing arts by providing platform. No surprises that the Balaga is receiving requests for performances from Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Sirsi and other places from all over Karnataka.
As its 75th programme, BHASANGE Balaga has organised a light music concert by Shwetha Madappadi on Sunday (May 13) at Vasudevacharya Bhavana of Nadabramha Sangeetha Sabha, JLB Road, Mysuru, at 6 pm.
Artiste’s profile
Daughter of Damayanti and Balakrishna Madappadi couple from a village near Sulya, South Canara, Shwetha Madappadi who is currently residing in Mysuru, is a multifaceted artiste.
She has completed BA in Fine Arts, MA in Kannada, MA in Folklore, PG Diploma in Language Science and presently working on her Ph.D at Karnataka Folklore University, Haveri. She is a Member of Karnataka Arebhasha Sahitya and Samskruti Academy.
She got attracted to the world of dance, drama, singing, painting etc., at a very young age when she was watching her father conducting many extracurricular activities for kids. She started learning music from Pt. Husain Sab Nadap at Haveri. She has sung in several State- level and National-level stages. She has learnt Bharatanatya under the tutelage of Sahana Bhat, Hubballi and as a dancer she has performed in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Sulya, Lakshmeeshwar and other places. As a writer she has published many books and articles. “Pathya Preeti”, “Male Daivagalu”, “Soo ennire”, “Kadugollara bedagina padagalu” are her notable publications.
All India Radio (AIR) Mysuru and Mangaluru have broadcast her speeches and poems on several occasions. A social worker, a Drama artiste, a Drawing artist, Shwetha is not a person to stop learning and to stop giving her knowledge to society.
On May 13, Shwetha will be accompanied by Ganesh Bhat on keyboard, Bhima Shankar on tabla and Gurudath on rhythm pad.
BHASANGE Balaga welcomes all music-lovers to the concert. Entry for the event is free.
