Lightning kills three in separate incidents

Ravandooru/Bherya: In separate incidents, lightning killed three persons including a father and a son yesterday afternoon.

In the first incident, a father and his 15-year-old son, who were standing under a tree during rain yesterday afternoon, died on the spot when lightning struck the tree they were standing under at M. Shettahalli near Ravandooru.

The deceased have been identified as Beeregowda (45) and his son Shivakumar, residents of M. Shettahalli. It is reported that the father-son duo was involved in agricultural activities in their land when rain began to lash at about 1.30 pm. In order to avoid getting drenched, the duo stood under the tree but lightning struck the tree killing the two on the spot.

Tahsildar G. Mahesh, who visited the village, collected information and consoled the family of the deceased.

In another incident, a woman, who was planting tobacco saplings along with her family members at her field in Kuppalli village, was struck down by lightning yesterday afternoon.

The deceased woman has been identified as Eeramma (60), wife of Javaranayaka and a resident of Kuppalli village.

Saligrama Police have registered a case in this regard.
