Mysuru: The 25th Foundation Day (Silver Jubilee) of Lions Club of Mysore Garden City (District-317-A, Zone-2) was held at a private hotel in city recently.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Lions International District Governor Ln. G.P. Diwakar said that poverty has been haunting the country, with millions of people craving for food. In such a scenario, the rich and the privileged sections of the society should come forward to do their bit for eradication of poverty.
Noting that India and Bangladesh were the only two countries in the world that Celebrate Teachers Day, he said that the Lions Club can take pride in the fact that it has been honouring teachers every year for their services.
He sought the involvement of everyone in making the Swachh Bharath Campaign a grand success. Ln. Nagaraj V. Bairy in his address, said that service mindedness should come naturally to everyone.
Pointing out that doing service will give satisfaction and a sense of fulfilment to one, he said that every human being should give his best for the welfare of the society.
Cancer-affected persons and poor talented students were presented monetary assistance to mark the Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Ln. Hemachandra Raju rendered the invocation, while Ln. B.R. Ramdas welcomed the gathering.
Ln P. Puttaswamy read out the annual report. The Lions Club of Mysore Garden City Founders Nayak, Rajashekar, Prabhakar, N. Subramanya, Shekar and Senthil Kumar were felicitated on the occasion.
