Mysore/Mysuru: Lions Club of Mysore West is doing its bit to help the frontline warriors (doctors, nurses, support staff, Police) and others in the battle against the pandemic which has brought the world to its knees.
Over the past couple of months, the Club has been involved in a series of service activities in partnership with district administration and other NGOs.
The Club provided 100 sets of bedsheets/blankets/pillow-covers, 700 FFP2 masks, 100 PPE sets to hospitals including District Hospital, KR Hospital and JSS Hospital. In addition, 1000 bottles of hand sanitizers were distributed to the nurses and aayas of KR and Cheluvamba Hospitals with help from NR Group.
Besides health workers, the Club made food arrangements for migrant workers at Nanjaraja Bahadur shelter camp for the second lockdown period, providing three meals a day through the Lions Hunger alleviation kitchen.
The Club also supported tribals at H.D. Kote by distributing free ration kits to 80 tribal families. The cost of above initiatives was approximately Rs. 5 lakh. In addition, the Club through its Lions Sevanikethan School, contributed Rs. 10 lakh to PM CARES Fund.
“Our Club will continue to be at the forefront in helping the country in times of need. We collectively hail the efforts of the health workers in Mysuru and elsewhere in the country in combating COVID-19 menace,” said Ln. Dr. Mahesh Rao, the President of Lions Club of Mysore West.
