Lions Summit tomorrow to focus on Lake Development

Mysore/Mysuru: International Association of Lions Clubs District 317 has organised a regional summit on Jan. 24 from 9 am to 1 pm at GLN Convention Hall on Bogadi Road. The theme of the conference is development and conservation of lakes. 

N. Jayaramu of the summit’s reception committee said that District Minister S.T. Somashekar will inaugurate the Lions Region 3 regional summit and the meet will focus on conserving the existing water bodies. 

Environmentalist Prasanna N. Gowda will be the main speaker while Lions Region 3 Chairman Jayakumar will preside.

 The International Association of Lions Clubs District 317 has rejuvenated Kongalli Mallikarjuna Kalyani at eastern part of Lalithadripura at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.50 lakh. After rejuvenation, the Kalyani has been handed over to villagers. 

As part of the summit theme, the lake and Kalyani attached to Basaveshwara Temple near Bandipalya Junction on Nanjangud Road would be restored and will be handed over to the villagers. The Temple too will be renovated and will be located by the side of the lake and a park will be formed along with plantation of native trees, he said. 

An action plan with an estimate of Rs. 20 lakh has been formed and the rejuvenation process has already been initiated, Jayaramu added.
