Mysuru: Theatre artiste K. Muddu Krishna was a rare collector among collector of coins, said veteran theatre Director Prof. H.S. Umesh.

He was speaking at the condolence meeting of Muddu Krishna and his wife Dr. D. Indrani (who both passed away in a tragic road accident in Lucknow recently) organised at Bhoomigeetha in Rangayana premises here yesterday.

He said that Muddu Krishna bought old coins from all the money he earned and used to learn about its history.

Muddu Krishna had involved himself in theatre activity and introduced many artistes to the stage. Even though he did not understand the nuances of music he loved it.

 “He never wished ill of anyone. I had seen his difficult times,” recalled Prof. Umesh.

Littérateur Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) said that with the passing away of Muddu Krishna couple together, a vacuum had been created in city. 

“Even though I did not have close contact with him, he always used to talk to me whenever I came to Rangayana” he said. 

However, once he put me in a piquant situation when he wanted to write about something very sensitive. But when I told him not to write, he refrained. That means he always wanted to talk about truth but was not adamant to have his own way all the time, he had that sense of proportion, added CPK.

Rangayana Director Bhagirathi Bai Kadam said, right from the time Rangayana was started till now, Muddu Krishna has been involved directly or indirectly in its growth. 

It is sad that we have lost the Muddu Krishna couple together. God should give strength to their sons, family members and near and dear ones to bear this irreparable loss.

Rangayana former Director H. Janardhan (Janni) said that Muddu Krishna had a very responsible outlook.   We all cared for the happenings in the society and had common views and he played the role of the elderly in such a family of ours.  He thought deeply regarding the divisive nature of politics in the present society and social exclusion, he added.

Muddu Krishna couple’s sons Alok and Ananya, Social Activist P. Mallesh, thinker Prof. Kalegowda Nagawara, Department  of Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Chennappa, littérateur Bannur K. Raju, Dhanjanaya Yeliyuru, K.R. Gopalkrishna, Nanda Halemane, Mime Ramesh and others participated in the condolence meeting..
