Loan beneficiaries urged to promptly repay

Mysore/Mysuru: D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation (DBCDC) Chairman R. Raghu Kautilya has urged beneficiaries to repay their loans on time.

Addressing a press meet held at Pathrakartara Bhavan this morning, Corporation Chairman Kautilya Raghu said, “Over the last one year, a total of 2.5 lakh beneficiaries have received loans through various schemes of D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation out of which loan repayment to the tune of Rs. 400 crore is still pending at this time. We understand that due to the pandemic considerable number of beneficiaries have faced lot of difficulties in the last one year and hence, they were unable to pay back their loans in due time. As the situation is now limping back to normal, I would personally request all the beneficiaries to repay their loan amount on time.”

“In Mysuru district, Rs. 50 crore is yet be recovered from the beneficiaries. We had set a recovery target of Rs. 17 crore for this year out of which Rs. 8 crore has been recovered as considerable number of beneficiaries have voluntarily paid back their loan amount. We are going to start loan recovery drive very soon. I am going to contact each one of those who are yet to repay loan and convince them,” he said.

“Due to the pandemic, over the last one year, not even 50% of the loan amount has been recovered. Till this date, we have not forced them to pay back their loans on humanitarian grounds. But, from now onwards, this would not be the case and hence, I personally request all the beneficiaries to understand the situation and start repaying loan amount,” he added.
