ZP CEO asks KRIDL officials to go ahead with the project, assures security
Mysuru: There seems to be no solution for the problem being faced by the officials with regard to the construction of AYUSH Hospital at Valagere in Nanjangud taluk. Though Zilla Panchayat (ZP) released funds for the construction of the hospital and performed guddali puja for the same, the construction is yet to begin.
Speaking on the issue, during the KDP meeting at ZP hall in city on Monday, ZP Standing Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Industries Dayananda Murthy expressed his displeasure over the construction having not commenced as a local politician was raising objection.
When asked as to why the guddali puja was performed on a different site, Beerihundi Basavanna was informed that the puja was performed on an empty site as the original site was filled with bushes and shrubs.
Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) official, who was present at the meeting, also informed that the local leader was not allowing for the project to take off.
To this, ZP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) P. Shivashankar assured that he would facilitate necessary security through the local Police and instructed the officials to go ahead with the construction. He also directed the AYUSH official to lodge complaint at the jurisdictional Police Station regarding the issue.
Dayanand Murthy informed the meeting that the leader, who was raising objection, had built his house on a Government land. Later, Beerihundi Basavanna suggested Murthy to visit the spot and set the matter right. Reacting to this, Murthy expressed his helplessness to fight against that local leader.
While discussing on drinking water units, KRIDL officer Venugopal said that the units were constantly coming under repair as people, who procured water from these places, used them unscientifically. Reacting to this, Beerihundi Basavanna said that machinery used in these units were of low quality.
Later, the ZP CEO said that the issue was also being discussed at the Government level and added that KRIDL was responsible for maintenance of these units till Dec. 31.
Dayananda Murthy also apprised about an official misleading the ZP in respect to the construction of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Community Hall at Debur.
In his reply, the official in-charge said that he had only tabled the information provided to him by his fellow officers. Later, it was decided to conduct a joint spot infection with officials and the elected representatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Horticulture Department Deputy Director Manjunath informed that the district had recorded a total of 783 hectare coconut crop loss. He said that the Central Government had approved to provide compensation on special grounds.
