Mysore/Mysuru: The existing Corona Positivity Rate is around 20 percent in Mysuru District because of which lockdown will be extended for another week to end on June 21, said Co-operation and District in-Charge Minister S.T. Somashekar.
Talking to media after a meeting with MP, MLAs and officers at Zilla Panchayat auditorium here yesterday, he said decision regarding relaxation to various sectors will be decided on June 14. The Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat will travel in one car and visit all 11 Covid Care Centres in the district to study the current Covid situation. Another set of officers led by District Health Officer will also travel across the District to study the prevailing condition, he said.
The Minister said the Corona Positivity Rate which was 27 percent last week has now dropped to 20 percent. The District will be unlocked only if the Positivity Rate drops below 5 percent. The District Administration will take all necessary steps to reduce the Positivity Rate below 5 percent in the next one week. As part of this, the State Government’s ambitious programmes, ‘Vaidyara Nade – Halliya Kade’ has been extended by another week. The medical teams will conduct more number of Covid tests and shift the infected persons to hospitals or Covid Care Centres depending upon their health condition. After recovery, they are being sent to post-recovery centres for resting two to three days. Later, they will return home.
Questioned about difference in list of dead patients and actual death rate, Somashekar said Krishnaraja MLA S.A. Ramdas has observed this during his programme of meeting families of Covid victims to console them. The same has been brought to the notice of the DC, he added.
NR MLA Tanveer Sait said the meeting discussed about high positivity rate in district and favoured vaccinating traders on priority. Covid recovered patients must take precaution following the chances of developing other problems later. Separate oxygen facility must be made for such persons, he added.
