Lok Adalat begins in city

Mysore/Mysuru: The last National Lok Adalat of the year, to dispose off pending cases through mutual settlement, began at all Courts in the city and district this morning.

Principal District and Sessions Court Judge M.L. Raghunath inaugurated the Lok Adalat being held as per the directions of Karnataka Legal Services Authority, at the new City Courts Complex in Malalavadi (Jayanagar) here this morning.

Senior Civil Judge Devaraj Bhute, who is also Member-secretary of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Mysore Bar Association President Mahadevaswamy and others were present.

The Lok Adalat is being held at all the 69 Courts in the district, including 50 in Mysuru city alone. Over 50,000 cases pending in Courts and Tribunals will be disposed off today.

The cases to be taken up include money recovery cases under Negotiable Instruments Act, labour and employment disputes, MACT cases, maintenance cases, land acquisition cases, matrimonial disputes, domestic violence cases, utility bills dispute, criminal compoundable cases and other civil disputes.

This is the fourth and last Lok Adalat of the year. The previous ones were held on Mar. 12,                     May 14 and Aug. 13.
