Lokayukta Police trap Hootagalli Revenue Inspector while receiving Rs. 1 lakh bribe

Mysore/Mysuru: Lokayukta Police have trapped the Revenue Inspector of Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC) while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh to fix tax after converting a commercial building for industrial purpose.

The Revenue Inspector who was caught is Manjunath. One Kumar of Haradanahalli village in Chamarajanagar taluk, owned a commercial building in Hootagalli CMC limits. Kumar had submitted an application to consider the commercial building for industrial purpose and fix tax accordingly and provide khata under Form-3.

Revenue Inspector Manjunath demanded Rs. 3 lakh bribe to provide khata and yesterday at about 2.30 pm, Manjunath was receiving an advance of Rs. 1 lakh near the Hootagalli CMC Office when Lokayukta Police swooped on him and caught him red-handed.

The accused was interrogated at the Lokayukta SP Office in city and was produced before a Magistrate in the night, who remanded accused Manjunath to judicial custody. Mysuru Lokayukta SP Suresh Babu and Dy.SP Krishnaiah guided Inspectors Ravikumar, Lokesh, Jayarathna and staff Prakash, Gopi, Veerabhadra, Asha, Triveni, Lokesh and Shekar, Madikeri Lokayukta personnel Manjunath, Salam Uddin, Shashikumar and Praveen Kumar in the operation.
