Lost jewellery bag returned to Bengaluru man in Mysuru

Lashkar Police trace autorickshaw based on CCTV footage, distinctive markings, photos

Mysore/Mysuru: In a swift and efficient operation, the Lashkar Police successfully traced an autorickshaw in which a man from Bengaluru had forgotten his jewelry bag, and within a few hours, they returned the bag to the owner.

Idayath Ulla, a resident of Bengaluru, had travelled to Mysuru to attend a relative’s marriage at a private function hall in Udayagiri. After the ceremony, he took an auto to Sub-urban Bus Stand to catch a bus back to Bengaluru. In his hurry, Idayath left behind a bag containing 40 grams of gold ornaments and 30 grams of silver articles in the auto.

Upon realising his mistake, Idayath searched for the auto but was unsuccessful. He promptly contacted Lashkar Police Inspector Prasad and reported the incident. Despite not having the registration number of the autorickshaw, Inspector Prasad and his team gathered CCTV footage along the route from the function hall to Suburban Bus Stand.

After reviewing the footage, Idayath identified the autorickshaw he had taken. Although the registration number wasn’t clearly visible, the Police, based on distinctive markings and photos on the back of the auto, conducted an inquiry with auto drivers at the stand.

They successfully located the autorickshaw, took the driver into custody, and during interrogation, the driver revealed that he had securely kept the jewellery bag.

The Police then summoned Idayath to the Police station and returned the bag to him.The successful operation was carried out with the participation of Lashkar Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar, along with staff members Nadaf and Kiran Kumar.
