Nanjangud: Parvathipura in Nanjangud taluk which was in news in a ‘honour killing’ case, is in news again as a group, yesterday morning, assaulted the lover of the honour killing victim in a bid to take revenge holding him responsible for the girl’s death.

The victim of the assault, identified as Krishna, was drinking coffee at a bakery in Yediyala, when the group attacked him injuring him seriously. Krishna is undergoing treatment at Nanjangud General Hospital.

It may be recalled that Krishna was in love with Shobha of the same village and wanted to get married despite belonging to different religions.

But Shobha’s father Gurusiddegowda had killed Shobha and had gone absconding. He was caught after a few days later in Ooty and landed in jail. Gurusiddegowda is still in the jail.

But yesterday, a group of four persons assaulted Krishna and have gone absconding.

Hullahalli Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
