Mysuru: Two women, who were among five persons who had sustained severe burns due to LPG cylinder blast at a house in Kalkunike village, Hunsur taluk, on May 14, have succumbed to injuries on May 19 at K.R. Hospital in city.
The deceased have been identifies as Jyothi and Nagamma of Kalkunike. While Ningaraju and Rajamma, who have sustained severe burn injuries, are being treated at K.R. Hospital, Sheela, who too sustained burn injuries, has been shifted to Gopala Gowda Shanthaveri Memorial Hospital in city.
On May 14 at about 8.30 am, Ningaraju and Jyothi were replacing an empty LPG cylinder with a filled one during which the LPG is said to have leaked from the cylinder, which later caught fire resulting in the cylinder blast.
Five persons had sustained burn injuries in the incident — Jyothi sustained 80 to 85 percent burns, Ningarju sustained 50 to 55 percent burns, Nagamma 60 to 65 percent, Rajamma 15 to 20 percent and Sheela had sustained 60 to 65 burn injuries.
While Jyothi and Sheela succumbed to burn injuries on May 19, three other injured persons are said to be critical and treatment is being continued, said K.R. Hospital Burns Unit Chief and Plastic Surgeon Dr. Mohan to Star of Mysore.
Hunsur Rural Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
