Lucky bid: City lad buys special edition Royal Enfield

February 27, 2018

Mysuru: The Special Edition of Royal Enfield Classic 500 Stealth Black bike, on which NSG Black Cat Commando rode, was delivered to an Infosys employee at a function organised at Aadith Motors on Hunsur Road here recently.

Skanda, a Technology Analyst at Infosys, Mysuru, was the lucky person who got the bike. He said: “I always wanted to ride a unique bike and came to know about the auction and registered through the company’s website. On Dec.13, I wanted to try my luck and was able to purchase the bike at a cost of Rs.1.9 lakh as against Rs.2.26 lakh, the cost of the new bike.”

He also said that he went for this particular bike on which the NSG Commandos rode as it was a pride to ride on the same.

Vijay Kumar, CEO of Aadith Motors, said that Royal Enfield was a humble supporter of this great initiative of spreading awareness against terrorism by providing our Commandos with the Classic 500 Stealth Black bikes along with protective gear which saw them through the challenging terrain and weather during their ride. He said that the proceeds of the sale would go to ‘Prerana,’ a non-profit organisation which is supported by the NSG unit to help educate the underprivileged children and added that it was a privilege for Aadith Motors for delivering the bike.

Royal Enfield had manufactured only 15 such bikes and the bikes were given to NSG Commandos on which 15 NSG commandos took an 8,000 kilometre road trip across 13 Indian States to spread awareness against terrorism before handing them back to the company.

These bikes carry an etched metal plate that commemorates the spirit of the Black Cats and their 8,000 Km expedition.

The company had put these 15 bikes on auction on their website for which registrations commenced from Dec.7 and concluded on Dec.12.

“The auctioning of these bikes began on Dec.13 midnight and within 15 seconds these bikes were sold through auction,” said Ramprasadh, Area sales Manager of Royal Enfield, who added that out of 750 dealers in the country, only 15 dealers got the opportunity to deliver the elite bikes including Aadith Motors in Mysuru. In Karnataka, one bike was given to a dealer in Bengaluru and one bike for Mysuru, he said.
