Mysore/Mysuru: Senior advocate M. Mahadevaswamy was elected as the new President of Mysore Bar Association in the election held yesterday.
Mahadevaswamy bagged 1,262 votes out of the 2,648 votes polled in the election that took place in the District Law Courts complex here on Tuesday. He defeated his rivals K.P. Suresh, M.R. Anand and R. Vishwanath. A total of 3,050 advocates were eligible to cast their ballots.
Also, Puttasiddegowda (750 votes) was elected as the Vice-President while S. Umesh was elected as Secretary (981 votes), H.S. Mahadevaswamy as Treasurer (964 votes), G.M. Nagesh as Joint Secretary (914 votes) and B.S. Bhagya (977 votes) as Joint Secretary (Woman).
The newly elected President and other office-bearers will have a two-year term.
