Mysuru: A 23-year-old girl student, who was said to be depressed, committed suicide by hanging self at a rented house in Shivarathreeshwara Nagar in city yesterday.

The deceased girl has been identified as Shalini, a native of Kundapura, who was pursuing her third year M.Sc course at JSS College here.

N.R. Police, who learnt about the incident, rushed to the spot yesterday morning, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to JSS Medical College mortuary for post-mortem and the body was handed over to the girl’s family members later.

N.R. Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating. The reason for the girl to take the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
