Madhuvana Park needs Avenue Lights

Sir,

Madhuvana Park in Srirampura is one of the biggest parks in Mysuru. This lush green patch serves as a good lung space for many surrounding residential areas like Madhuvana, SBM Layout, Vivekanandanagar, BEML Layout, LIC Layout, Kandaya Nagar etc.

A large number of senior citizens, women and children come to this park for walking and relaxing. However, this park lacks avenue lighting. Walking in the park becomes extremely difficult and scary after sunset.

The walking track is fully dark at many places and corners due to thick foliage and shade of the trees. Only street-lights on the main road brighten up some patches of this vast park.

I have seen many alert senior citizens coming here with torch lights to aid their safe walking. It is an irony that the MUDA, which spends huge public money on many unimportant projects, has not provided basic lighting in this big park. Before any untoward incident takes place, the authorities should make up their mind to install  lamp-posts along the walking track of Madhuvana Park thereby making it a safe place for tax-paying citizens.
