Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Madigara Munnade,’ a district- level convention of Madigas will be held at Leela Channaiah Kalyana Mantap on Valmiki Road in Paduvarahalli here on Dec.23.
Announcing this at a press meet here recently, BJP leader and former Minister Kote M. Shivanna said that the convention will begin at 10.30 am on Dec.23. Chitradurga Seer Madara Channaiah Swamiji will grace the occasion. Union Minister A. Narayanaswamy, former Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol, former MLC C. Ramesh, former IAS Officer B.H. Anil Kumar and others will take part.
Pointing out that ‘Madigara Vishwaroopa,’ a Madiga convention recently held at Hyderabad which was attended by Prime Minister Modi was a huge success, Shivanna said that S.M. Krishna as the Chief Minister had constituted A.J. Sadashiva Commission on providing internal reservation for Madiga community among the Scheduled Castes.
Noting that later, B.S. Yediyurappa sanctioned Rs.11 crore grant for the welfare of Madigas, Shivanna alleged that the Siddharamaiah Government has shown disregard for the Commission report. The convention will discuss various issues concerning the community, he added.
Advocate S. Arun Kumar, community leaders Dasaiah, Arakalavadi Nagendra and Nagaraju were present at the press meet.
