Mysuru: Madiwala Machideva Jayanthi jointly organised by the District Administration, Department of Kannada and Culture and Jayanthostava Committee was held in city yesterday.
MLA G.T. Devegowda inaugurated the procession from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple by offering floral tributes to portrait of Madiwala Machideva. MLC Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, District Congress Committee President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar and others were present.
A grand procession of the portrait accompanied by folk troupes such as Kamsale, Veeraghase, Bombe Kunita, Dollu Kunita and other folk troupes passed through K.R. Circle, D.D. Urs Road, JLB Road, Vinoba Road before culminating at Kalamandira premises.

During the stage programme, Department of Kannada and Culture Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy offered floral tributes to the portrait of Madiwala Machideva. Writer V. Sridhar delivered a lecture on Machideva and stated that while a few are not able to provide education to their children, Machideva had stressed for educating children in 12th century. Madiwala Machideva Jayanthotsava Celebration Committee members were present.
