Madurai Mani Iyer Bani to resonate in Mysuru

Mysuru: RAAGA Music Academy, Mysuru, one among the leading Sabhas in city with its perceived objectives of upholding the traditional values in Karnatak music, has over the past five years provided numerous concerts from well-acclaimed artistes from all over India and abroad. 

This Saturday (Oct.19), RAAGA Music Academy has organised a Grand Vocal Music Concert by Vid. Mahadevan Sankaranarayanan accompanied by Vid. Gokul Alankode on violin, Vid. Trichur KMS Mani on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujam on ghata. The concert will be held at Prajna Kuteera Ayurveda Centre, next to Axis Bank on Vishwamanava Double Road. The concert starts at 5.30 pm.

The concert has been sponsored by Vinutha and Prashant Shastri from Papua New Guinea Islands.

RAAGA Music Academy conducts concerts under the theme ‘Music For Wellness.’ The Academy has maintained the tradition of delivering lectures on Wellness, Ayurveda and Yoga before the start of the concert. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. N.V. Krishnamurthy, a reputed Ayurveda and Yoga expert, at 5 pm. Entry to the programme is free.

Mahadevan Sankaranarayanan belongs to an illustrious family of Karnatak Classical Musicians. He is the son and disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Padma Bhushan T.V. Sankaranarayanan, the world renowned Karnatak Vocalist and is the grand nephew of the legendary Sangeetha Kalanidhi Ganakaladhara Madurai Mani Iyer. 

Mahadevan, with an innate gift of fine music, has grown up in an environment filled with music from childhood. He has had formal training under his father TVS and mother Vijayalakshmi. He has been a regular performer at major music platforms in India and abroad.

Mahadevan holds a Master’s Degree in Music and is planning on completing his Ph.D in Music. He also holds a MBA degree in Finance. He has several awards to his credit from reputed Sabhas including Bharat Kalachar, Krishna Gana Sabha, Tyaga Brahma Sabha etc.
