Chamarajanagar: Kannada Chaluvali leader Vatal Nagaraj has said that a State bandh has been called on Jan.25, to urge for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention for resolving Mahadayi, Kalasa Banduri and Mekedatu water rows.
Speaking to Press persons here yesterday, Vatal Nagaraj said that various Kannada organisations and farmer associations have supported the Jan.25 bandh that has been called to press for finding an early solution to Mahadayi row.
Urging Modi to convene a meeting of the Chief Ministers of the three riparian States — Maharastra, Karnataka and Goa — before Feb.3 in order to end the over three-decade row, he said that a Bengaluru bandh will be called on Feb.4, on which date Modi is scheduled to take part in a BJP rally, if there was no solution to Mahadayi water sharing dispute.
Vatal further warned of staging a demonstration in New Delhi if the Centre was apathetic towards resolving the row.
