Mysore/Mysuru: Students of SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management pursuing BBA in Aviation and International Tourism, visited Mysore Airport recently as part of an educational programme.
The visit was facilitated by Airport Director P.V. Ushakumari, who enabled students to gain practical exposure to airport operations.
During the visit, the Airport Fire Services team, led by B. Sunil Kumar, along with staff members K. Amal, M. Akshay and Jishnu, conducted a session on fire safety and emergency response.
Students were briefed on the classification of fire and demonstrated the use of various fire extinguishers, including TPC, carbon dioxide and foam extinguishers.
Air Traffic Control Officer Xavier addressed the students and explained basic aviation concepts. He spoke on types of aircraft, key components such as aileron, rudder and elevator and flight operation principles including Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). They also had a chance to interact with the Meteorological Department.
The students witnessed a live aircraft landing and were introduced to navigational aids such as Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) lights.
Staff members C.V. Keerthi and Ravi Nayak, along with 29 students, were part of the visit.
