Mysore/Mysuru: Asserting that women play a vital part in transformation of the society, member of the erstwhile Royal family Trishika Kumari, said that Matoshri Kempananjammanni had contributed a lot to education and health sector during her life.
She was speaking after inaugurating Matoshri Kempananjammanni Vardhanti (birthday) and Women’s Day event, organised by Ursu Mandali Sangha at its premises on Thyagaraja Road in K.R. Mohalla here recently.
Stressing on the need for active participation of women in the progress of the society, Trishika Kumari said we should not forget the services of those who strived for the development of the society. In this backdrop, the celebration of Women’s Day assumes significance, she observed.
“Kempananjammanni who took over the reins when Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar was a teenager, had ensured smooth administration and contributed a lot for health and educational sectors. We should follow her ideals by remembering her service and contributions to the society,” she said.
Lauding Ursu Mandali Sangha for its social activities, Trishika said she would extend co-operation for all their activities.
Trishika Kumari spoke in Kannada, which drew the attention of the audience. Sri Chamarajendra Education Trust Vice-President Dr. Bharathi Urs and Additional DC Kavitha Rajaram too spoke.
DFRL Scientist Radhika Madan Urs, LIC of India Assistant Divisional Manager B.K. Girija Urs, Sri Chamarajendra Educational Trust Trustee Padmashri Urs Chidanand and Dr. M.V. Shilpa Urs of Charvi Dental Care were felicitated on the occasion. Deputy Mayor Dr. G. Roopa, Sangha President S. Lingaraje Urs, Suma Urs and others were present.
