Prof. Sabiha Bhoomigowda urges students to aspire for leadership positions and conduct ethically
Mysore/Mysuru: Retired Professor of Akka Mahadevi Women’s University, Prof. Sabiha Bhoomigowda, highlighted Maharani Kempananjammanni’s vision for the holistic development of women and her relentless efforts towards empowering women from all walks of life.
She was speaking at the valedictory event of Maharani Women’s Autonomous College’s Cultural, Sports, National Service Scheme (NSS), Sports and Rangers activities held in the college premises recently.
She emphasised the need for students from diverse backgrounds to appreciate Maharani Kempananjammanni’s contributions to women’s empowerment and strive to receive quality education, becoming valuable assets to society.
While acknowledging the importance of academic excellence, Prof. Bhoomigowda urged students to aspire for leadership positions, underscoring the significance of ethical conduct.
Drawing inspiration from renowned women achievers like Marie Curie and Kalpana Chawla, as well as the pioneering efforts of Savitribai Phule in promoting women’s education nearly two centuries ago, she stressed the need to emulate their achievements.
College Principal Prof. M. Abdul Rehman echoed the sentiment, stressing the richness of Indian culture, which promotes humanitarian values and compassion towards all living beings. He encouraged everyone to embrace and embody the cultural ethos of India.
During the event, several students, who excelled in NCC, NSS, cultural and sports activities, were honoured along with the Professors who guided them.
Cultural Committee Convenor Dr. V. Lalitha, Treasurer R. Rashmi, Physical Education Director Dr. D. Ramani, Ranger’s Convenor Manjula Sheshagiri, NSS Officers Dr. Lakshmi M. Paloti, Students Cultural Committee President Sharanya and PG Section Vice-President H.M. Jayalakshmi were present.
