‘Mahaveer Ahimsa’ Award presented

Mysuru:  ‘The whole world can be made nuclear weapon-free by treading on the Ahimsa path shown by Bhagawan Mahaveer,’ opined noted Film Music Director Hamsalekha. He was speaking after inaugurating a function organised by Sri Mahaveer Seva Sansthan at M.L. Vardhamanaiah Memorial Hall on Chandragupta Road here on Wednesday evening as part of the 2618th Jayanti of Bhagawan Mahaveer.

Writer and retired History Professor N. Venkoba Rao was felicitated on the occasion and conferred ‘Sri Mahaveer Ahimsa’ Award. Hamsalekha observed that the world is getting destroyed by power-mongers using nuclear weapons as humans are monkeying around with weapons. He said that Mahaveer, Buddha and Basavanna preached Ahimsa but the word is becoming a misnomer now going by the uncontrolled violence, hatred and animosity across the globe. He commended the contribution of Jain writers to Kannada literature.

Speaking after receiving the award, Venkoba Rao lauded the music prowess of Hamsalekha. He opined that Ahimsa philosophy would be the only solution for all problems facing humanity.

Jain Mahila Samaja President Sheela Anantharaj, ML Jain Boarding Home Secretary Shyamala Madankumar, M.A. Sudhir Kumar, Padma Dhanyakumar and others were present.
