Making sustainable and reusable sanitary napkin

Training imparted for tribal and rural women 

Mysuru/Mysore: Baalya Trust, Global Kulture and Raagarashmi – Foundation for Art and Culture had jointly organised a training programme “Making sustainable and reusable Sanitary napkin for tribal and rural women”  in Hunasekuppe Tribal Colony, H. D. Kote and Hunsur recently.

 Nearly 50 women and students from Sri Devaraj Urs First Grade College, Sociology Department, Hunsur, participated in the training. 

The programme was facilitated by Sangeetha Ravindranath, Trainer and Founder Director of Raagarashmi; Biggi Vinkeloe and Nema Vinkeloe Uuskyla, Trainer, Global Kulture – Sweden. 

During the training, they briefed about the usage of cloth pads during menstruation and how it’s safe for health and environment.  They also explained about how to create cloth pads using old cotton cloths and its use and thus promote well-being through the menstrual cycle. These cloth pads are affordable and using such cloth pads can prevent thousands of tons of non-biodegradable sanitary waste around the world, they said. 

The main objective of this training was to help empower women as change agents, by providing information and ways for them to reconnect to their embodied knowledge and voice.

Anantha, Founder and Chief Functionary, Baalya Trust, welcomed. Sarvachethana Trust, DEED Hunsur and teachers of Sociology Department of Sri Devaraj Urs First Grade College, Hunsur, cooperated for the conduct of this programme.
