Man allegedly kills wife for questioning his illicit relationship

Srirangapatna: A man, angered over his wife questioning him about his illicit relationship, allegedly strangulated her to death in front of his children at Gendehosahalli village in Srirangapatna taluk on Wednesday night.

The deceased is Yogitha (28), wife of 37-year-old Ravi of the village. Ravi has gone absconding after committing the crime. A native of K.R. Pet, Yogitha was given in marriage to Ravi nine years ago and the couple have a son and a daughter.

According to sources, Ravi had illicit relationship with a woman of the neighbouring village which had resulted in frequent fights between the couple. Ravi was also pestering his wife to leave the house and village elders had also advised Ravi to mend his ways.

On Wednesday night, when Ravi was making his kids eat the chats he had brought, Yogitha is said to have brought the issue of his illicit relationship, which led to a fight between the couple and as the matter went out of control, Ravi dragged Yogitha into a room and the children sensing trouble, went and informed the matter to their neighbours. When they came back to the house, they saw that their father had strangled their mother with a veil. Asking his children not to inform the matter to anyone, Ravi fled from the house and has gone absconding since then.

Arakere Police, who have registered a case, have launched a hunt to nab Ravi.
