Mysuru: Kuvempunagar Police have arrested a man for assaulting his wife with a machete on Sunday night. The accused was arrested on Monday following a complaint from his wife.
The arrested has been identified as Ankanayaka, a tractor driver and the victim is his wife Manjula, residents of Ramakrishnanagar ‘I’ Block in city.
Ankanayaka, who came home drunk on Sunday night, picked up a quarrel over a petty issue and allegedly assaulted his wife Manjula with a machete injuring her on her neck. Manjula was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kuvempunagar where she was provided treatment.
Following the assault, Manjula has lodged a complaint with Kuvempunagar Police.
The Police, who registered a case, arrested Ankanayaka on Monday and produced him before a Court which has remanded him to Judicial custody.
