Nanjangud: Hullahalli Police have taken a man and his wife into custody on charges of stealing Rs. 3.30 lakh cash from his brother’s house.
Those taken into custody are Swamy and his wife Sunanda, residents of Magadi in Ramanagar taluk. The Cops took the duo into custody following a complaint by Venkataraju (brother of Swamy), a resident of Hediyala village.
On the occasion of Ugadi festival, Swamy and Sunanda had come to the house of Venkataraju on Thursday and stayed overnight. While leaving on Friday early morning, the couple have allegedly stolen Rs. 3.30 cash kept in the almirah. The money was kept for the marriage of Venkataraju’s son.
The theft came to light, when Venkataraju’s wife Prema was sweeping the floor after the couple had left and found three currency notes of Rs. 500 denomination under the almirah. When she opened the almirah to check the money, she found the same missing, according to the complaint.
Hullahalli Police, who have taken Swamy and Sunanda into custody, are investigating.
